iTunes Video On Your iDevice
All though the iTunes Store is the brain from which video purchases or rentals originate, the iTunes Store is no longer defined by the desktop application you may have on your computer. All iDevices, from the iPod Touch to the Apple TV, give you access to some or all of the iTunes Store.
With this page we’ll try and answer some of everyones frequently asked questions about everything from purchasing, to transferring, to streaming, and renting on your favorite iDevice.
RENTING MOVIES ON YOUR iDEVICE
• iOS 3.0 (3.2 for iPad) or later is required to rent movies on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Apple TV software version 2.0 or later is required to rent movies on Apple TV.
• Choose from new releases and catalog titles, with select films available in HD. Watch your movie with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod (including the iPod touch, iPod nano (3rd generation or later), and iPod classic), as well as on your TV using your Apple TV. Browse the iTunes Store and look for movies with a Rent button, or check the Top Rentals Charts to find top sellers. Once you click Rent, your movie will begin to download immediately.
• You have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and 24 hours (in the US) or 48 hours (elsewhere) after you’ve started viewing to finish it. Once the rental period expires, the movie will disappear from your iTunes library.
• You can watch your movie rental on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, iPod classic, iPod nano (3rd, 4th, or 5th generation), or on your TV using your Apple TV. You can watch HD movie rentals on your computer, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation), or with Apple TV.
• Once you start watching your movie, you can view the rented movie as many times as you wish within the 24-hour (or 48-hour) window.
• If you don’t watch your rented movie, it will expire in 30 days and disappear from your iTunes library. You will need to rent it again in order to watch it.
• If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
STREAMING WITH AIRPLAY ON YOUR iDEVICE
With AirPlay, you can wirelessly stream videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to Apple TV (2nd generation). You can also wirelessly stream videos and music from your computer to Apple TV (2nd generation).
• After you’ve upgraded to the latest software on your iOS device and Apple TV, you can stream your videos by simply tapping the
icon on your iOS device and selecting a recipient from the list of available devices. You will see this menu:

Notice the images of a TV screen
or speaker
next to each AirPlay device in the AirPlay menu. Those images indicate the type of media content you can stream to that device.
