aTV Flash 4 Released
Boxee Beta Launch
Christmas has come early for some. Here at Apple TV Junkie we had the opportunity to run an early release of the Boxee Beta. For your viewing pleasure we’ve created a video to walk you through some of the major features.
Today Boxee unveils their much anticipated beta (link) and for those that can’t be there in person we have a short video demonstration of it’s new look and feel.
Boxee Beta Unveiling Event
For those of you you haven’t heard, Boxee will be leaving Alpha status and entering into Beta on December 7 at 7pm EST.
Boxee is a cross-platform freeware media center software with a 10-foot user interface and social networking features designed for the living-room TV. It’s a cross between Facebook and the Apple TV. Better yet, Boxee can be easily installed onto your Apple TV by creating a USB patchstick and booting from it while still retaining all the original Apple TV functionality like rentals or purchases from iTunes.
New Boxee Update Available For
Apple TV & Mac

The good people over at Boxee released an update today to its media center software for the Apple TV and Mac. Primarily a bug fixing version with fixes coming to the boxee browser to better support Flash sites, improved performance, less jittering and less crashes. The Ubuntu flavor of Boxee was also update with an update to the Windows version coming in June.
For Apple TV, exit boxee, and update the version via the Launcher. It is also highly recommend you update the Launcher to the latest and greatest 3.0 version.
For Mac, the update will show up in boxee, allowing for a direct install. You can also download this version manually at http://app.boxee.tv/download.
Boxee announces new alpha for Apple TV
Boxee announced today the availability of a new alpha version (0.9.11.5591) for Mac OS X and Apple TV. Most notable additions for this release are the addition of Pandora, Radio Time and a new Boxee browser. Boxee has also publicly released the API for Boxee make it possible for third party developers to start adding new plug-ins. I’m hoping Boxee can create a decent ecosystem of partners to start adding unique content portals.
This update should show up in the downloads section of the Launcher menu option. Enjoy!
New Version Of Boxee Coming March 24th

It appears as though all of the recent Hulu mess has taken its toll on the guys at Boxee which have now decided to postpone the latest release of their media center software from March 5th to the 24th. The good news is it sounds like they are working hard to get ABC programming in this next release. Sounds good to me, I’d rather watch Lost over Heroes or Dollhouse any day.
In the meantime, people still looking to get their Hulu fix on Boxee can head over to TheJakeMarsh.com for a solution.
