Well…thats just a slap in the face. This hobby has become a waste of time. Thanks for making me spend more money for even less features! I guess it is time to look at a mac mini with hulu desktop and plex that has been hacked to work on front row. Maybe now I will get what I am really looking to do…cancel cable.

I purchased an AppleTV on day one as well. I’ve gotten several years of great use out of it, and plan to get several more. Even if Apple stopped allowing movie, TV and music downloads to the device, I’ve got it stocked up with enough of my own content to make it very useful.

I don’t understand people complaining about the hardware update. Apple doesn’t owe you anything. The original Apple TV does exactly what Apple promised it would do – not what people thought, wanted or dreamed it would do. Nowhere in the small print did it say that Apple would offer free or discounted upgrades once the hardware changed. Sorry, that’s not how the world works. Anyway, the new device is $99. If you’ve absolutely got to have the new features, it’s not like it’s completely out of reach.
