Not only did Apple TV users get no love with the iTunes 9 update, but it seems as though iTunes 9 is causing some problems for our little box.
If you’ve installed iTunes 9 and are thinking of doing a Factory Restore to your Apple TV you might want to wait on that. It seems as though doing a Factory Restore to an ATV that is on the same network as computers that have iTunes 9 installed throws the Apple TV into an infinite loop of restart hell. I can personally attest to this as it happened to me. A quick glance over at the Apple Discussion Forums reveals that I was not the only one stuck in reboot hell. I can tell you that I stopped this non-stop rebooting by shutting down all computers on my network. The loop seems to happen when the Apple TV tries to network with a computer that has iTunes 9 installed and it appears as though just quitting iTunes 9 doesn’t help.
If anyone else has a solution for this problem please feel free to share, but other wise try avoiding a Factory Restore if you can.
