It appears that you can also control the volume level for music videos as well as music itself. That being said, one can tag a video as a music video and control the volume using the Apple TV. I'm not entirely sure if this can be done for iTunes store purchased films. An easier workaround is simply to program a third party remote for use with your Apple TV which maintains the functionality of controlling your TV/AV volume output.
