iTunes Store adds Canadiana section

The Canadian iTunes store now includes a “Canadiana” section (more specifically a genre) that features the store’s Canadian content together, including TV shows and movies made in Canada.

I’m curious, for you Canadians: is Corner Gas available on the iTunes store? I love that show and wish I could just download it rather than getting it from Netflix.

Yup. Corner Gas is fully available on our iTunes store. If you change your store location on your Apple TV or PC iTunes software, you can browse (but not buy) other regions’ offerings. I’m sure most already know this feature. :)

I wish the Canadian store had an Americana section, cause there are so little content as compared to what is offered on the American store. Not so much for movies (though no sign of HD purchases), but mainly for TV shows. The best we got are the Daily Show, Colbert and the first season of Chappelle. Boo-urns!

@Captain Canuck – we’ve been in contact with Apple Canada and expressed these and other concerns. I suspect they are working on more TV content but its all about the distribution rights and who knows what kind of government red tape. No word on when or what, however, so its sit and wait.

@BillG – thanks for the update. I back you up if you need any supporters! :)

Interestingly, they have the Canadiana section in the Canadian store. But of course it’s to highlight Canadian-made media.
