WALL-E Now Available For Rent, But Not In HD?
WALL-E is now available for rent though the Apple TV and iTunes Store, but, not in HD. This is an SD rental only, for now anyway. I find this one particularly puzzling considering the relationship Mr.Jobs has with Disney. So much for any pull he may have. This is definitely one of those titles I was looking forward to viewing in HD. It looks like Disney is still trying to cash in on those Holiday Blu-ray sales.

The Blu-ray Disc is only $19.99 at Circuit City this week.

This does seem to be a growing habit of the studios to ‘firewall’ their projected Blu-Ray revenues of very popular titles. WALL-E joins an expanding list of HD content available in Blu-Ray only. Obviously they fear that, given the choice, consumers will opt for the less costly (and lower quality) download sources, putting their cash cow on an unwanted crash diet. This appears to be supported by industry analysts, of late. But I just wish the studios would stop telling us what we SHOULD want, and deliver to us what we DO WANT…

Any title I suspect will not be available on Apple TV on time I simply download. I didn’t expect we’d see walle at all given theres no disney movies available for rental. I’d prefer to rent it tho…disney’s loss I guess.

Irony of ironies… WALL-E is a Disney/Pixar production and Steve Jobs sits on the Disney BOD…

What is particularly interesting is that WALL-E *is available* as an HD rental on the Xbox 360.

Matthew that was going to be my very next question. Anyone know about VUDU? Do they have WALL-E in HD?

Excellent! Thanks for the news – we have been waiting to rent Wall-E since we picked up an AppleTV in early December. I do wish it was in HD though…
Hopefully, Kung-Fu Panda will be next!

Wall-E is available in HD for rent via Playstation as well. What gives?!?! I already own the blu-ray but it is still a major loss for it not to be on there.
