It looks like the folks over at Boxee are preparing to open up the Alpha version of their open source media player software to everyone who wants it beginning January the 8th. Up to this point Boxee has been in closed Alpha and available by invite only. They also state on their Boxee Blog that there have been over 150,000 people who have signed up for the Alpha and that they plan on clearing their entire backlog of invites, with the exception of Windows users, by December the 25th. It’s also important to note that the product will still be in Alpha as they work hard to get the Beta out.
For all the details head on over to the Boxee Blog.
