I’d be all about a rental service for TV shows & movies. There’re only a handful of movies I actually rewatch, and TV shows, well, that’s never. I’d gladly pay $20 per month to rent whatever.

Eddie – This is the thing I bemoan about snap Internet polls. How do I respond if I want a subscription model to be offered, but not in replacement of the current one? At the very least, IMO you should add a response to cover this camp. That way I can respond with what I really think… Thanks.

there are shows i want to watch once and forget about (daily show for example) and shows i want to keep that i would have previously bought on dvd (it’s always sunny).

the shows i’d rather own far outweight the shows i’d want to rent.

I’ve had to think about this one… I am normally opposed to a subscription service idea – and still AM totally for music.

However, I guess my current Cable fee is a monthly “subscription” that I pay for all sorts of content that I DONT ever want to watch – and some that I do.

If iTunes directly mirrored that model however, then I guess I don’t have any reason to switch over from Cable.

If, instead, iTunes offered an “all you can watch” subscription (I am assuming for TV only) with the additional option to purchase anything you like – well then it becomes the more attractive option.

As it is now, I can record any show I want for free on my DVR and most of them can be fire-wired off and converted to play on my AppleTV. This does take my time though, and I am still left with commercials unless I want to spend even MORE time editing them out. So in that respect, $2 or $3 bucks an episode is certainly cheaper than my personal time per show. So I’d see that as a plus.

As it is now however, I just don’t want to purchase that many TV shows (or store them) so iTunes cannot effectively replace my cable subscription. We watch a lot of TV, but only want to own a small fraction of that to re-watch later.

Concerning music and movies – no subscription model please! I want to own my music and want to rent movies when I feel like it, and purchase only certain ones, but not be charged a monthly fee when I’m simply not watching movies that often. (too much TV, remember

So, iTunes – give me a subscription with option to purchase for TV and I will say “buh bye” to Comcast for good. Keep music purchases the same – it works. For movies, just add the ability to buy HD and we’re good! Simple, eh?

I don’t understand all the subscription haters. I have been a yahoo unlimited (now rhapsody) subscriber for years and am completely satisfied. If i purchased all of the music I download for less than $10/mo, I would spend $100′s more on music annually, maybe thousands.

I purchased an ipod recently for audible.com (my old Creative Zen Touch was incompatible.) For guys who want to buy their music, all the subscription services I know of have an option to buy and some tracks are only available for purchase. If itunes added subscription as an option, ipod sales would increase just based on that option.
