Sony doesn't see a future where DVDs dont exist, or at least not for a very long time. But they do see that some people like downloading so they don't want to be left out of that money either. Think of Sony as making downloads a complimentary service to their Blu Ray. Most people want discs so they will do that mostly. Some people want downloads, so they'll do that a little too.
