VUDU Support Forum Members Ask: Why Does ATV Offer More HD New Releases?
We received a tip from site member CJ about a post over at the VUDU Support Forum asking why the Apple TV offers more HD new releases. Apparently VUDU users also have a bone to pick with the studios and how they distribute movies. So don’t feel so bad Apple TV users about the selection of HD movies you have to choose from. It could be worse, you could be using a VUDU.

Thanks for the tip Eddie. It was pretty interesting reading. I particularly got a chuckle from the guy who said he’d put up with the lack of new release HD to gain the (legendary) VUDU quality. What a trooper!
If Apple gets better treatment from the studios on HD releases, the reason for it is clear. iTunes is a very popular and powerful player in the market. So, if I were a studio head, I’d certainly know where to devote my attention — to wherever I can move the most content and derive the greatest revenue.

There’s not a lot for VUDU users to be happy about these days. HD was to be VUDU’s primary selling point when compared to other VOD services. Couple that HD content deficit with the hoop$$$ they have to go through to get their devices wireless. It’s laughable.
VUDU is a one trick video pony and not a very good one at that. I warned them when I was beta testing the VUDU box that Apple TV and other VOD services could quickly eclipse them.
