By way of a post over at Gizmodo, by installing the latest software update for Vudu, you are given the option of being able to extend your rental for another 30 days or an extra 24-48 hours. Apparently Independent Titles on Vudu are rented for 48 hours. The extra cost is $2 off HD movies and $1 off SD movies. Is this a feature you would like to see implemented on Apple TV? Check out the entire post here.
27 Dresses became an HD rental tonight along with 7 more titles including Assassination Tango, Cobb, Curley Sue, Fright Night, Little Shop of Horrors, Scooby-Doo in Where’s My Mummy and Unearthed.
Below is a list of movies which are either coming soon are are currently playing on HBO and Starz. If my theory about Premium Cable Channels taking over movie rights is correct, we should see some of these titles disappear or become purchase only. As a matter of fact Ocean’s Thirteen is already gone. FYI, HBO.com made it easy to find their upcoming schedule, Showtime and Cinemax did not, which is why I did not list their upcoming titles.
Coming Soon to HBO
Hairspray – 6-8
Ocean’s Thirteen – 6-15
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – 6-22
Rush Hour 3 – 6-29
The Simpsons Movie – Coming Soon
Already Playing on HBO
Knocked Up
Evan Almighty
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Transformers (Cinemax)
Coming Soon to Starz
Underdog – 5-31
Spiderman 3 – 6-7
The Game Plan – 6-21
Apple Movie Junkie, formerly Apple TV Junkie, is the official blog of Cinemira. We provide a helpful service for users of the iTunes Movie Store and the Apple TV. AMJ was born out of a surprising shortcoming on the Apple TV after noticing that there was no easy way to find a list of all new HD & SD rental titles released on a daily basis. AMJ fills that niche with a daily list of new movies.
