Ars Techinca Reports That iTunes Finally Reaches 1,000 Movie Mark
It took them squeezing every once out of the definition “Movie”, but Ars Techinca is reporting that Apple has finally done it and reached the 1,000 mark. Wow. At this point, a few months late, is it really a mark to even bother following anymore? Call me when they hit the 1,000 HD movie mark and hopefully they won’t be doing that with a load of HD “Short Films”. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, give me quality Apple, not quantity.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Short Films. But I think by including them in the overall count of movies, this goes against the spirit of what Apple and Steve Jobs said they would deliver back in January. I don’t remember Short Films flashing across the big screen at MacWorld behind Mr.Jobs.

Being an artist I’m going to have to say that short films count. They are just as good if not better than a lot of feature length movies because they don’t have the money or time to waste on CG effects or giant action sequences. They actually have to rely on stuff like plot and well rounded characters. I say leave them in the count.
I do think that the 1000 movie mark doesn’t seem to mean anything anymore though since its so late. I mean no one even remembered or really cared to keep track besides Ars. Oh well. Better late than never.
